| I guess it's time for my 6 month visit here, to remind everyone that I am Still Talking over on my other journal. And since I am here, I will just copy and paste what I posted there today... The kids did amazingly well in school. I have very high expectations for my kids. And they never fail to live up to them. Jared got the Art award again this year, and was on honor roll all year long. David scored in the advanced level on 3 of the 5 areas of the 4th grade proficiency test (math, science, and social studies). And Stacy is, well... She's Stacy. She is very advanced, but she doesn't flaunt it. I had parents and her teacher telling me all year how caring and empathetic she is with her classmates. Not something you see very often in a second grader. My kids are awesome, and they make me proud every day. Jared is having a great time with guitar. He plays whatever accoustic he can get his hands on more than he plays his electric, but that's ok! LOL He is working on "Jesus Freak" by dc talk, and "Freedom Fighter" and "One" by Creed right now. Of course, that's for his lessons. JohnMark is teaching him a lot here at home, too. And they jam together all the time. Throw in Stacy, and the few things she knows in there, and they sound great. I love to sit and listen to my family make music together. Oh yeah, and did I mention? My oldest baby is going to HIGH SCHOOL next year?? OMG! I am old... LOL David is playing baseball again this year. It's the first year that JohnMark has not been his coach. Actually, it's the first year in 9 years that JohnMark hasn't coached at least one of our kids! David is a hoot! He is usually very shy, and does not like to be singled out in any way for any reason. Yeah, well, he's also a great pitcher! LOL And does not get the least bit nervous out on the mound. All eyes are on him and the batter, and he doesn't even seem to notice, or care. It makes me smile every time I think of my shy kid refusing to do his oral report in front of his class, out there on the spot. Or playing third base, and getting called in to pitch with the bases loaded and no outs. He just trots to the mound, and takes over. Doing his best. He is just such a neat kid. I really, truly enjoy him. Stacy. She is such a girl. She loves her piano teacher. And she is getting really good, too. Rarely even has to look down at the keys as she is playing. Of course, she is also the family narc. She feels the need to report every single thing that every one does, every single minute of every single day. It can wear me down. But, she also makes me so proud. She really is a genuinely nice kid. It's hard to be the baby. And the only girl. So, I try to cut her some slack. Plus, she's just beautiful. I look at her some times, and am amazed that she came from me. She is just beautiful, inside and out. Then I think, "Oh my word! She is going to be TROUBLE!" LOL We'll deal with that when we get to it. In the mean time, I am just blessed to get to be her mommy. Oh yeah, and I am getting OLD. Why do the multiples of 5 seem to be the hardest? As if having a child in high school is not bad enough, I will be 35 on Monday. *sigh* At least JohnMark will always be 3 years older than me! :) Love that man. And I am so proud of him. He knew what he wanted, and he went for it. Even if it meant going it alone. And he is happy. For the first time, in a long long time. He is a musician. And he finally gets to spend his days doing what he loves to do. Sharing his passion for music with everyone he comes into contact with. Uhm, yeah. So, that's what we have been up to. Finishing school, getting started on baseball, and just being a happy family. |
